Dear friends,
Drachengasse Nachwuchswettbewerb 2024 is over, and we are delighted to announce that our piece “DIE DÜNTZER RHAPSODIE” won the audience award!
After each of the 10 performances, the audience members were invited to vote for one of the pieces, and the biggest number of voices was given for our project! Thank you for choosing us, it means the world to our team! Many thanks to the theater Drachengasse, and personally to Katrin Schurich, Katrin Kukelka-Lebisch, Karin Koller, Julian Brendinger, Hannes Stockinger, Matthias Vanura, and the entire team of the theater! It was a very beautiful time and a great experience!
The competition at the theater Drachengasse is over, but you still have a chance to see “DIE DÜNTZER RHAPSODIE” this month; two chances, to be precise: we play it at the vernissage of “ERINNERUNGEN DER NATUR” – the first solo exhibition by Kasija Vrbanac Strelkin at Spektakel Wien, and at the “TRANSCENDENTAL LANDSCAPES” – a group exhibition event at Atelier MOOS.
ERINNERUNGEN DER NATUR
The central topic of the work by Kasija Vrbanac Strelkin is the relationships and the exchange between humans and nature. For Kasija, curvy lines of landscapes and ambiguous wiggling shapes of plants and clouds are a source of immense inspiration; for her, nature in the complexity of its forms is an intelligent substance with its own consciosness that preserves multiple experiences collected throughout the passed millennia. Creating her objects, Kasija contemplates the impact that humans and nature make on each other, focusing on private, intimate experiences of interacting with the natural environment, recreating and explicating affective exchange with the natural world. The artist’s memories of nature and nature’s memories of the artist reflect in each other, captured in Kasija’s objects.
Whispering secretly the mysteries of the earth. Branches reach towards celestial realms. Roots delve in the darkest of depths. Casting shadows that dance the melody of forgotten dreams. Where reality and illusion merge piercing the fabric of the cosmos.
