peformance >>> graz, austria >>> 2021

it’s dark now >>> but they feel each others’ breath >>> and they know all they need to know >>> they kiss >>> and they feel each others’ tears on their cheeks >>> and if there had been anybody left to see them, then they would look like normal lovers, caressing each others’ faces, bodies close together, eyes closed, oblivious to the world around them >>> because that is how life goes on >>> like that
the performance was created in our living room, in the time of the lock down, when nobody was allowed to enter stages and rehearsal rooms >>> we presented it on the festival “invisible drives” in graz, austria, where we (since we are a married couple) were the only people, who were allowed to touch each other on stage >>> the idea of this duet came from the movie “perfect sense” (directed by david mackenzie, 2011); the plot of this film is whirling around the misterious pandemics that affects the senses of people: at first, all humans lose the ability to smell, then taste, until all senses disappear >>> in the last moment of the movie, we see a loving couple losing the ability to see – they hold each other, and touch is the last and only possibility for them to stay connected >>> our performance and the circumstances of real corona pandemic brought us the inspiration to imagine ourselves in this situation – connected only through touch and risking to lose each other forever in the darkness and silence in case our embrace will be broken
