the first step is to put an impression, a feeling, or an experience in the form of text >>>
for instance, i am working with the stories i heard from other people >>>
i am shortening them, modifying them, and re-writing them; in other words, i perform literature editing in order to condense the content >>>
as an illustration of the text migration method, i’d like to offer the story of SABRINA (a fictional character based on several real people) >>>
Sabrina told me about her ex-girlfriend. They went together to watch a performance at Wiener Festwochen. It took place in an abandoned hangar building. There was no stage, just the empty space, where the little crowd of audience members confusedly roamed around. Suddenly it became clear that the performance has already started: the dancers were part of this crowd, dressed casually, perfectly unrecognizable as performers until the moment they started to undress. Yes, they got completely naked. And then they started to look into the asses of each other. Yes, examining the buttholes, exactly. Sabrina was trying to find the good point to see the piece; she climbed a little stairs at the wall of the hangar to look from up, to see the constellations. She also took a thick booklet, where the concept behind the choreography was explicated: it was about power, colonialism, sexuality, and so on. Only twenty minutes later, when the dancers created a circle, licking the butholes of each other in a round constellation, Sabrina noticed that Helena is not there. It turned out, she left long time ago. She was drinking beer in a bar nearby. She said she was disgusted.
But why disgust? – asked Sabrina astonished.
We all watched porn, said Sabrina, we all have seen people doing intimate things to each other. So why disgust? And also Sabrina said: “I realized, we see the reality, the body with different eyes. Helena… She… she is normal”.
Another time, Sabrina und Helena went to a contemporary music concert. It started with a solo violin, which, quoiting Sabrina, was annoying as fuck. Twenty minutes the girl was raping her violin, and Helena couldn’t take it. She started to cry. She looked around at the thoughtful faces of other audience members and couldn’t get, what are they enjoying here? Helena ran to the toilet, locked herself in a cabin and was crying for a while, completely devastated. “Art requires stamina,” – concluded Sabrina.
And also she said: “I can’t be with someone who incapable of witnessing naked people licking the butts of each other, with someone who cries over a raped violin”. She said so, or maybe not, maybe I made it up.
hypothetically, the entire text could serve as material for movement, but in order to illustrate the method i’d condense it to two sentences
She is normal. I can’t be with someone who cries over a raped violin
as the next step, we’ll translate these phrases into sign language
