FAREWELL TO THE SEASON 2023-24

Dear friends!

The Flirty Horse season is over! Yesterday we completed it with a beautiful evening at the Atelier MOOS, and today we’d like to thank you, our new and old friends, colleagues, and audience members for being there with us during these exciting months!

In this post, we’d like to throw a short (and a little nostalgic) glance at the events we had this season and announce our plans for the next one.

November 2023
DER VERLORENE GEBURTSTAG” at Pygmalion Theater

We went on quite an adventure with the amazing Josefine Reich and Stella Wiemann and created this piece in only two weeks. It was based on Ivan’s play which was significantly transformed during the rehearsal process; it involved beautiful music by Ilja Gussarov and was performed three times at the Pygmalion Theater. That was an exciting, stressful, and rewarding experience involving a crowdfunding campaign (endless gratitude to everyone who supported us – without you, this premiere would not have occurred!), five hundred (or more?) balloons, and sincerely heavy topics. December 2023
STRANGE WHAT LOVE DOES” at “Tanz im OFF

The premiere “STRANG WHAT LOVE DOES” had a lot of pre-premieres: we started the creative process at the Tender Steps Residency in 2022, appeared with the work-in-progress versions at Spätschicht and Schäxpir Festival in Linz, as well as at the Performing Picnic Park Festival in Karlovac (Croatia). The Viennese premiere took place at the OFF Theater at the festival “Tanz im OFF“. Conceived and choreographed by Kasija Vrbanac Strelkin, this was a story of two clumsy neural networks falling in love with each other in the distorted time-space of the AI universe.

March 2024
DAS SOLO DER VERGEWALTIGTEN GEIGE” at Spektakel

Ivan’s solo piece, based on his text, was presented at Spektakel Wien. A collection of stories about war, love, the search for home, and all facets of loneliness in an one-hour monologue augmented with little choreographic divertisments.

May 2024
BLACK MAGIC SHOES” at “Performing Puzzle

For the second time in Vienna, Kasija performed her piece “BLACK MAGIC SHOES“. This year it happened at OFF Theater in the frame of the festival “Performing Puzzle“.

DIE DÜNTZER RHAPSODIE” at the Drachengasse Nachwuchswettbewerb

The topic of the competition at the Theater Drachengasse was formulated as “Stadtplan oder Wanderkarte”, offering the applicants to think of the relationship between city and countryside, urban and rural areas. As a response to this topic, we developed “Die Düntzer Rhapsodie”, a story of two teenage girls from the tiny village of Düntz, who are dreaming of coming to Vienna. Our project won the audience award; moreover, we were invited to create a full evening piece based on our story – the premiere will take place in January 2025. The text was written by Ivan Strelkin and Bianca Braunesberger, the stage was designed by Kasija Vrbanac Strelkin, and the whole thing was performed by the incredible Barbara Angermaier and Marika Rainer

June 2024
ERINNERUNGEN DER NATUR” at Spektakel

This work by Kasija Vrabanac Strelkin was sold at her first solo exhibition “ERINNERUNGEN DER NATUR” at Spektakel Wien. The gallery of Spektakel hosted this and other works by Kasija (you can see them all at the virtual Olive Gallery, all of them are available for sale) as a collaboration project with Flirty Horse Art Collective on the 7th – 14h of June 2024. “Die Düntzer Rhapsodie” was performed at the vernissage in the space of the gallery

We thank our beautiful colleagues, partners, and audience for this season! Thank you for being there with us!

NOVEMBER 2024
“WHEN TREES WERE TALL”

“When Trees Were Tall” is a transdisciplinary music concert that involves compositions by Tatyana Juraszek, choreography by Kasija Vrabanac Strelkin, and text by Ivan Strelkin. It is a fantasy about how the people of the future will see us, their past. The year 14024. The people of the future live on other planets and know very little about life on Earth in the 21st century. Since our distant descendants are not familiar with the concepts of gender and nationality, they do not understand what these words used to mean to us, their ancestors. After the archaeologists of the future came across these terms while processing the data remains of the historical Earth, they assumed that gender and nationality were some kind of energies or gods that the people of 2024 believed in.

The project is supported by the city of Vienna – MA7 Musik
PRECISE DATES AND LOCATIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN AUGUST 2024!

JANUARY 2025

The full version of “DIE DÜNTZER RHAPSODIE“, the piece that won the audience award at the Drachengasse Nachwuchswettbewerb! The premiere is planned for the 20th of January 2025, the tickets are already available!

TWO MORE PREMIERES are to be announced later!

Flirty Horse Art Collective is a non-profit association. Our projects are possible because of the support of our PARTNERS and private contributors. However, apart from art, our organization has further expenses, such as payments for keeping our web page, our bank account, our Vimeo channel, etc. For that reason, we created THIS DONATION PAGE: all collected money will be spent on the basic needs of a non-profit organization and/or contribute to the appearance of new art projects in the future. We would greatly appreciate all donations!

Have a great summer and see you in the next season!
Best, Kasija, Ivan and Flirty Horse Art Collective
